Biographical notes

Larry Crandell
– For more than 40 years, he's used laughter to loosen purse strings, getting the rich and powerful to part with their money for charity. He's helped hundreds of nonprofits as a volunteer leader and as an emcee/ auctioneer. Now 83, he continues to preside over more than 50 community events a year. No wonder people call him Mr. Santa Barbara.

Steven Crandell
– A journalist for more than two decades, Steven spent 10 years as the producer of several national news programs for Television New Zealand. He has four children. He is now a partner with Larry in a consultancy serving local nonprofits. Their average age is 65. Wags have suggested they should be retiring, not entering their second year of business together.

The Crandell Company

The Crandell Company helps nonprofits with fund-raising, board formation and public relations. But in reality, it also does more. Many groups need to re-define their strategy. Some are sure of their goal, but aren't sure how to get there. The Crandell Company acts as a catalyst which helps organizations get where they want to go.

Steven spent 20 years as a journalist working in Santa Barbara, Australia and New Zealand. He has public relations, writing, story-telling and management skills. Larry is widely known for his work for with nonprofits.

The consultancy seeks to combine Larry's status, contacts and his amazing ability to communicate with Steven's skills of organization, writing and his media experience.

Larry also has a secret weapon. He's funny. In the often serious atmosphere of nonprofits, humor is not only refreshing, it's efficacious.
